Archery Bow Hunter, and offer great deals too!
Archery has always been a source of curiosity. It has fascinated people through
the ages and people are still very much excited about it. It's well known that
bow and arrows are amongst the earliest forms of weapons. They are the "guns" of
that era. What's most interesting is that people throughout the world discover
them as a means of hunting or war. This proves that they are indeed useful for
these two purposes and have served men well. Since firearms have replaced the
role of bows and arrows in war, archery is now conformed to only sports and in
some countries, hunting. Followers of the Olympic Games will also remember that
archery is also an event and other archery events and tournaments are also held
all across the World.

Archery? What's it All About?Archery is a very well known sport and also with a rich history. Archery has been traced to have existed since 9000BC. Discoveries of the oldest arrows were found in the Ahrensburg valley north of Hamburg, Germany. It was made from pine and consisted of a mainshaft and a 15-20 cm long foreshaft with a flint point. While record of the oldest bows came from a swamp in Denmark.Classical civilization especially Persians, Parthians, Indians, Koreans, Chinese and the Japanese were believed to include archers in their armies. Archery was mostly developed in Asia and in the Islamic countries. Ancient Korean civilizations were well-known for their excellent archery skills.Archery's main purpose in earlier times was for combat. Today, archery is considered as one of most awaited event on sports competitions like in the Olympics. It was included in the 2nd Olympics in the year 1900 and was ceased in the year 1924. It was later resumed in the 1972 Olympics in Munich, Germany. There are several types of competition related to archery. Target archery and Field archery are the most famous forms. Other less known competitions are 3D archery, Clout archery, Flight archery, Ski archery, Beursault, Popinjay, Roving Marks and Wand Shoot.Target archery involves shooting arrows at a target for accuracy from a given distance or distances. This type of archery competition is the most popular of all. Competitions in target archery may be held indoors and outdoors. The distance for targets in indoor competitions varies from 18 to 25 meters while outdoor competitions range from 30 to 90 meters. The competition is divided into ends of 3 or 6 arrows. After each end finishes, the archer gets their arrows and tally their scores. There is also a time limit for the archers to shoot their arrows. The targets are marked with 10 equal concentric rings which have equal scores from 1-10 for each ring. There is also an inner 10 ring, known also as the X ring. This X ring has different purpose for indoor and outdoor games. This serves as the 10 ring in indoor games. In outdoor games, it serves as a tiebreaker. The player who scores the most number of X wins. In cases of line breakers where an arrow hits the boundary lines for the scores, the archer gets the higher point. On the other hand, Field archery involves shooting targets in different distances, mostly in rough territory. There are three different rounds for this kind of competition. It is the field, hunter and animal rounds. Each round is made of 28 targets in two sets of 14. Field rounds are at set to even distances up to 80 yards. Scoring consists of targets with a black bullseye (worth 5 points), white center (4 points) and black outer ring (3).Hunter rounds use different distances up to 70 yards. Scoring is almost the same as field round, only with black faced targets with a white bullseye. Animal rounds use 2D models of animals with different distances like the hunter round. The differences here are the rules and the means of scoring. The archer starts at the first station of the target and shoots his first arrow. If it hits, it's not necessary to shoot again. If he misses, he advances to station two and shoots a second arrow, then to station three for a third if needed. Scoring areas are critical (20, 16, or 12) and non critical (18, 14, or 10) with points awarded depending on which arrow scored first. For children or young people playing in this type of competition, the distance given to them is much closer than the standard.

also many accessories available to make the hobby safer and more comfortable.
Bows are of different types such as Longbow, shortbow, flatbow, recurve bow,
crossbow and compound bow. Longbow as the name suggests is very long; the length
of the bow is equal to the height of the user and in some cases even exceeds the
height of the user. The limb of the Flatbow is wider and the cross-section is

such as manner that the archer is at ease while mounting the bow.
All these types of bows are available in the market. Although some of the bows
have become outdated still some of the archery suppliers keep the product for

Archery is a great fun pastime that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, yet
one which involves much of skill to be successful. Whilst nothing should put you
off the idea of you or your family practising archery, please remember that the
history of archery stems from combat, and arrows are no less dangerous when
fired for sport.
You should always ensure that when firing, you have taken every precaution
possible and proceed in a safe, responsible manner. Before shooting, it is
important to make sure that all the equipment you are about to use is in good
condition to prevent equipment failure accidents. You will need to make sure
that your bow is free from cracks and that the ends of the bow are free from
nicks and moisture. Frequently check the bow string and ensure that it is well
waxed and free from damage. Make sure that the bow's nocking point is positioned
correctly and undamaged and that all safety gear is up to standard. You then
need to ensure that all arrows are fully straight and free from cracks. In order
to keep your bow in a good condition, never draw the string further than the
length of the arrow and never draw and release the string without an arrow
nocked. Once your equipment is checked and safe, you can begin shooting. When
shooting there are obvious rules to follow to ensure the safety of everyone
involved. You must never point a bow with an arrow nocked at anybody at anytime.
Similarly, it is important to never shoot unless there is a clear target
available and to never simply fire into the air, as there is no sure way of
predicting where it will land. When shooting as part of a group, always ensure
you wait until a clear signal that firing has stopped before proceeding over the
shooting line and when not firing, always remain behind all archers that are
shooting. When retrieving arrows from a target, stand to the side of the arrow,
place one hand on the target near the arrow and, with the other hand, grip the
arrow shaft just above your resting hand. Always pull in a straight motion,
twisting as you pull, to prevent damage to the arrow. To ensure you are always
safe when practicing archery, always make sure you go to a designated range or
shooting location. Targets should be set up either with a wall or hill directly
behind them or with a gap of at least 60 feet behind the targets that is kept
clear in case of wayward arrows. Any shooting location should have a line of
fire clearly marked out for each target and a line marked along the row of
shooters that should not be crossed without a clear signal that it is safe to do
so. If wishing to include varying distances of target ensure that all shooters
remain in line and that it is the targets themselves that are placed backwards
of other targets. Provided you are shooting at a fully designated and supervised
archery range, there will most likely be someone to supervise your shooting and
ensure it is safe. Always make sure you follow the supervisor's advice relating
to safety, but above all, enjoy yourself.
