Archery has always been a source of curiosity. It has fascinated people through
the ages and people are still very much excited about it. It's well known that
bow and arrows are amongst the earliest forms of weapons. They are the "guns" of
that era. What's most interesting is that people throughout the world discover
them as a means of hunting or war. This proves that they are indeed useful for
these two purposes and have served men well. Since firearms have replaced the
role of bows and arrows in war, archery is now conformed to only sports and in
some countries, hunting. Followers of the Olympic Games will also remember that
archery is also an event and other archery events and tournaments are also held
all across the World.

Bow hunting are essentially the same. Today arrows fly further and penetrate deeper. Bows are stronger and lighter -- and compound bows are more complex. Blinds and stands give us an advantage over our predecessors, but skill, intimate knowledge of the game and the ability to move quickly and quietly across the terrain is a skill that can take years to develop. Bow hunters must be able to get close to their prey for a quick, clean kill. They must foil the animal's sense of smell, sight and hearing. Then, of course, there are the laws and regulations that govern modern bow hunting, so the sport takes a little more planning than just a trip to the woods with camouflage gear and a quiver full of arrows.Bow hunting are two of the fastest growing recreational activities available today. Opening day was a complete change from the night before, although it was chilly from all the rain the rain had stopped and the sky was clear. " worst part was all the mud, made walking and driving a real challenge. " my buddy pointed me in the direction of where i would be hunting and told me just work my way up the cut in the bluff and find a good spot where you can see them coming. " now where we hunt wyoming the antelope like to use these cuts for bedding and cover, there is also a lot of dried up wash outs where they also like to hang out. " we got there well before daylight as to not let the antelope know we were in the area. " just as it was starting to get light i could see some movement from below us toward and old wash out. " also in this area is seems that there is a lot of antelope does that have some good size horns. " we have seen them as long as four inches. " when we first spotted the antelope it was about 400 yards away but walking straight at us and in the low light i could not tell whether it was a doe or a buck. " it was getting lighter and lighter by the minute and the antelope was getting closer and closer. " finally i could make out that the antelope had some horns on it, but still could not tell whether it was a buck or doe yet. " the antelope finally reached 250 yards and now it was getting right light out and i was pretty sure it was a doe as i could see no black patch on the cheek of the animal and in wyoming if you see any black it's a buck. " so i got down and called my buddy on the radio to tell him my dilemma as he was only a mile or so away. " he said the same thing you see black it's a buck, but if no black and if the horns are less than 5 inches i can use my doe tag. " so i sat there a bit still wondering whether it was a buck or doe and now it's at 200 yards. " just about the time i was gonna let it walk, out of the corner of my eye i spot a nice buck coming up the same path this antelope had taken.Bow hunting are encouraged to minimize their presence. "you're not going out there throwing a party while you are hunting, you are out there being quiet and still," smith said. "you're not taking shots at 100 yards, you have to wait for close shots so you have a clean kill. Some hunters in osage beach and camelot have been ticketed for baiting deer with food, but according to smith, the incidents have occurred at a common rate. Within the village limits could consider allowing urban hunting, using the same model the city of osage beach uses. Property owners would need to register their property as an allowed hunting site, and hunters would also need to register with the village. "managed deer hunts that are put on by the cities can be more restrictive than the state rules and regulations, but they cannnot be more lenient," smith said. A four point antler restriction is still on for camden, miller, and morgan counties, which prevents hunters from taking immature bucks.Bow hunting are: a mature doe must be taken first, archers must log in and out with their land manager and inform him or her of any success, all arrows of a bow hunter are identifiable, and all arrows shot must be retrieved. The bow hunting began in the village and town of cornwall on october 19th and is still underway. 50 permits were given initially and as of last week, 22 deer were killed.
